Lukuupangna - Huntington Beach Wetlands Conservancy
The Wetlands Conservancy was established to support and protect coastal wetlands in what is also known as Huntington Beach from "development" at a time when saltwater marshes were rapidly disappearing.
HBWC is deeply committed to preserving valuable marshes, restoring tidal action, and maintaining and promoting habitat for local wildlife at these once-degraded, historical wetlands. Only roughly 10% of the original historical extent of wetlands remains in California.
The marshes of the HB Wetlands Conservancy are home to year-round residents, including some bird species threatened with extinction, such as the Least Tern and Snowy Plover. Thousands of migratory birds depend upon these wetlands for rest during their long migrations.
Wetlands & Wildlife Care Center of Orange County
The Wetlands & Wildlife Care Center is dedicated to rehabilitating and releasing sick, injured, and orphaned native wildlife, some of which are threatened or endangered species.
We participated in regular volunteer programs at the Wetlands Conservancy and the Wetlands & Wildlife Care Center.
