Inglewood

This site began as a degraded, compacted yard, primarily covered in early pioneer "weeds," but with the advantage of various fruit trees: grapefruit, lemon, and orange. Because the older grapefruit tree matriarch of the land captures and holds water well when it rains, it has benefitted all other plants on the land during restoration.

SSC volunteers planted productive fruit trees, native plants, perennial polyculture, and raised beds while restoring the soil's microbiology with diverse cover crops. To date, four heirloom fruit trees were planted, including Santa Rosa Plum and Blenheim Apricot. The land has been covercropped multiple times with diverse, seasonal soil-building mixes; two raised beds have been installed.
